The first Leica 4K projector with dimensions of 100 inches was a guest of the IFA exhibition

The Leica company, which is active in the field of cameras, unveiled its first projector at the IFA 2022 exhibition in a strange move. Leica 4K projector can display images up to 100 inches.

Leica surprised everyone by unveiling its first 4K projector at IFA 2022. This projector, called Cine 1, is in the category of UST (ultra short throw) projectors and can display an image of 80 or 100 inches from a distance of 15 cm from the wall.

Specifications and price of the first 4K Leica projector

Although the unveiling of a projector by a camera-oriented company seems strange; But don’t forget that UST models require very precise optics to create a square image at close range, and this is exactly where Leica’s expertise comes into play. This German company announced that it used its Summicron lens technology along with non-spherical elements to make this product.

Also, in the construction of this projector, triple layer RGB with a life of 25 thousand hours (made in cooperation with Hisense) and Texas Instruments DLP chip have been used. Leica has designed its first 4K projector in two versions for 80-inch and 100-inch screens. The first model should be placed at a distance of 15 cm from the wall and the second model should be placed at a distance of 30 cm from the wall.

The manufacturing company insists that these distances and dimensions are completely respected; Because the optics are designed exactly for them. For this purpose, it sells special projector curtains in dimensions of 80 and 100 inches. These curtains bring the output of 2100 and 2500 lumens respectively.

In the audio section, the Leica 4K projector uses built-in speakers equipped with Dolby Atmos to provide surround sound. Also, this projector is accompanied by a receiver of digital signals for watching TV and Hisense’s VIDAA operating system to provide smart features.

In addition, you can connect external memory, Blu-ray player or console to the new Leica product using HDMI and USB inputs. Other key features of this projector such as color spatial coverage and HDR support have not been announced.

Leica has set a very high price for its first 4K projector. You have to pay $6,900 for the 80-inch model and $7,900 for the 100-inch model. Meanwhile, the most advanced current UST projectors (eg Samsung LSP7T 4K with HDR10+) are in the price range of 3000 to 3500 dollars.
